Christian Bauer The Man & Company Background 1858 Christian Bauer is born as a weaver's and butcher's son in Welzheim. Later on he founded the firm bearing his name. 1879 Christian Bauer marries Karoline, nee Foll. Two sons and two daughters descended: Karl (1886), Friedrich (1888), Lina (1879) and Julie (1892). 1880 Formation of Christian Bauer company. 1900 Karl Bauer begins to work as goldsmith in his father's business. 1914 Friedrich Bauer marries Emilie, nee Knodler. Two daughters, Elise and Elfriede, emerged. 1930 Celebration of 50th anniversary. Friedrich Bauer is assisted in matters of staff and business by daughter Elise. Elfriede, the younger daughter, joins the business, too. 1948 Double wedding of Elise and Elfriede. The sons-inlaw - Julius Keller and Helmut Hutt - members of the trade and with the company for years, contribute new ideas and pioneering spirit. 1955 The 75th anniversary is celebrated in the presence of the Baden-Wurttemberg prime minister. This coincides with Friedrich Bauer's 45th anniversary of his work with the company. 1975 Eva Schneider, nee Hutt, Rosemarie Hirzel, nee Keller, and Roland Hirzel become members of the company. 1980 Celebration of the company's 100th anniversary, with 500 people presently working for it. 1988 Christian Bauer begins distribution in the United States.
